On Sunday, June 12, the Hall of Fame grounds were the most full they have ever been in the 9 years I have been attending induction weekends. The cause for the crowds and mass hysteria? The induction of super stars Mike Tyson and Sylvester Stallone; not to mention Julio Cesar Chavez, Kostya Tsyzu, Nacho Beristain, and Joe Cortez. Stallone's induction into the revered International Boxing Hall of Fame has caused a bit of controversy among boxing fans; however Stallone's acceptance speech put it best: "I've never pretended to be a boxer I don't possess those skills, but what I do think I have is an understanding of what goes on outside the ring. What goes on outside the ring is sometimes more of a struggle than what goes on inside the ring. If I was able to capture that then I believe you would be able to identify more with the fighter."

Tyson's speech paid homage to Hall of Fame founder and champion Carmen Basilio as well as the late Cus D'Amato, but was cut short when Tyson started to get too emotional to continue his speech.
